The cost to ship a pallet across Europe depends on three things: see our pallet rates for live quotes. It comes down to where it's going, what type of pallet, and how many you're sending. This guide gives you real 2026 rates from Spain to 14 major European destinations.

Per-Pallet Rates from Spain (Q2 2026)

Standard EUR pallet (120×80 cm, up to 750 kg, single-stackable). Rates include base freight + typical fuel surcharge.

Rates are per-pallet. Calculated as: LDM rate × 0.4 LDM (one EUR pallet). Multi-pallet rates assume linear scaling — actual rates may include volume discounts above 3 pallets.

How Pallet Type Affects Cost

Not all pallets occupy the same trailer space. The LDM conversion determines your cost:

| Pallet Type | Dimensions | LDM per Pallet | Cost Factor |

|-------------|-----------|----------------|-------------|

| EUR Pallet | 120 × 80 cm | 0.40 LDM | 1.0× (base) |

| Half Pallet | 80 × 60 cm | 0.20 LDM | 0.5× |

| Industrial Pallet | 120 × 100 cm | 0.50 LDM | 1.25× |

| Quarter Pallet | 60 × 40 cm | 0.10 LDM | 0.25× |

Example: Shipping 4 industrial pallets (120×100 cm) to Germany = 4 × 0.5 = 2.0 LDM × €165/LDM = €330 (vs €264 for 4 EUR pallets).

What Drives Pallet Shipping Costs?

1. Distance (40–50% of cost)

Longer corridors have higher base rates, but the per-km cost decreases. Portugal (short haul) has a high per-km rate but low total cost; Scandinavia has lower per-km rates but higher totals.

2. Fuel Surcharge (15–25%)

Added as a percentage of the base rate. Tracks diesel prices weekly. Currently 18–22% on most Spanish export corridors. Track current diesel prices with our live diesel price tracker.

3. Volume Discounts (−10 to −20%)

Regular shippers (weekly commitments) get contracted rates 10–20% below spot market prices.

4. Delivery Extras

Tail-lift delivery (+€30–€60), appointment slots (+€20–€40), and inside delivery (+€50–€100) add to the base rate.

5. Seasonality

Q4 peak (October–December) adds 8–15%. August can also spike on southern European lanes due to reduced capacity.

When to Switch from Per-Pallet to FTL

The break-even typically falls at 17\u201322 EUR pallets (see our LTL vs FTL comparison) (7–9 LDM) depending on the corridor. Above this threshold, booking a dedicated truck is cheaper than paying per pallet.
