How to Fix Damaged Pallets Before European Dispatch
Displaced goods, broken wrapping, wrong palletization — how to fix pallet issues before shipping across Europe. Re-palletizing services in Barcelona.
The Problem: Damaged Pallets in Transit
Goods shift during transport. Wrapping tears. Pallets arrive at a consolidation point with boxes displaced, stacking compromised, or wrapping insufficient for the next leg of the journey. Shipping a poorly secured pallet across Europe risks:
- Cargo damage — Goods fall off, get crushed, or shift against each other
- Delivery rejection — Receiving warehouses refuse pallets that don't meet stacking standards
- Insurance claims — Poorly secured cargo is harder to claim for
- Regulatory issues — Unstable loads violate road transport safety regulations
Common Pallet Issues We Fix
At our Barcelona facility, we handle these problems daily:
Displaced goods — Boxes or items have shifted from their original position on the pallet. We reposition everything according to optimal stacking patterns.
Broken stretch wrap — The original wrapping has torn or loosened. We remove old wrap and apply fresh, tight stretch wrapping.
Wrong palletization — Goods were loaded incorrectly at origin — wrong pallet size, overhanging edges, mixed heavy/light items. We re-palletize from scratch.
Overweight pallets — A pallet exceeds weight limits for the next transport leg. We split into compliant units.
Mixed destination pallets — Goods for different destinations loaded on the same pallet. We sort and re-palletize by destination.
Our Re-Palletizing Process
1. Assessment — We inspect the pallet and document the issue (photos, notes)
2. Unloading — Goods are carefully removed from the damaged pallet
3. Sorting — Items are sorted by destination, weight, and fragility
4. Re-stacking — Goods are re-stacked following proper palletization rules (heavy on bottom, no overhangs, stable center of gravity)
5. Securing — Fresh stretch wrap, corner protectors, and strapping as needed
6. Documentation — Updated pallet count and condition report
