Pricing FAQ

What factors determine freight pricing?

Freight rates depend on the number of loading metres (LDM) required, the distance between origin and destination, the shipping mode (LTL, partial load, or FTL), any applicable surcharges such as fuel or seasonal adjustments, and whether customs clearance is needed for non-EU destinations like the UK or Switzerland.

How are loading metre rates calculated?

Loading metre rates are calculated based on the floor space your cargo occupies on a standard 13.6m trailer. One loading metre equals 2.4m width × 1m length of floor space. Rates vary by destination country, with closer destinations like Portugal starting around €82/LDM and longer routes to Scandinavia or Eastern Europe ranging up to €299/LDM.

Are fuel surcharges included in quoted rates?

Fuel surcharges are applied separately and adjusted based on the European diesel price index. The surcharge percentage varies from 0% when diesel prices are stable to 7.5% or more during significant price increases. Current surcharge levels are displayed in our fuel surcharge calculator tool.

What payment terms does Transroad offer?

Standard payment terms are 30 days net from invoice date for approved credit accounts. New customers may be offered prepayment or shorter terms initially. Volume shippers can negotiate customised payment arrangements through their account manager.
